Veeam Cloud Connect¶
Cloud4You provides services based on the Veeam platform for backup protection, replication, and long-term data retention.
The documentation in this section covers client-side service configuration, day-to-day operations, data recovery, and troubleshooting of the most common issues.
Service scope¶
Depending on the activated service, you may use, among other things:
- Veeam Cloud Connect Backup,
- Cloud Connect repositories,
- Backup Copy Job,
- Veeam Cloud Connect Replication,
- Insider Protection,
- Hardened Repository,
- Tape as a Service,
- Cloud4You technical support for Veeam configuration, updates, and troubleshooting.
Veeam Cloud Connect Backup¶
Veeam Cloud Connect allows backups to be transferred to Cloud4You infrastructure without requiring the customer to have direct access to the storage infrastructure.
On the customer side, the service is added as a Service Provider in Veeam Backup & Replication.
After successful configuration, the available Cloud4You repository can be used as a target for supported backup jobs and Backup Copy Jobs.
Cloud Connect repositories¶
Each customer receives resources according to the parameters of the activated service.
In the Veeam configuration, the repository is presented as a resource provided by the Service Provider.
Service parameters
Capacity, retention, and additional protection mechanisms depend on the service variant activated for the customer.
Insider Protection¶
For services using Insider Protection, an additional copy of data can be protected against immediate deletion from the customer side.
This mechanism provides an additional layer of protection in scenarios such as:
- accidental backup deletion,
- compromise of an administrative account,
- malicious data deletion,
- a ransomware incident.
Insider Protection does not replace a proper backup policy
The mechanism should be treated as an additional layer of protection.
Retention, number of copies, and recovery methods should be selected according to business requirements and the adopted RPO and RTO values.
Hardened Repository¶
Cloud4You may provide repositories that use hardened repository mechanisms.
Their purpose is to increase backup resistance to unauthorized modification or deletion.
Detailed protection parameters depend on the configuration of the specific service.
Veeam Cloud Connect Replication¶
The service may include virtual machine replication to Cloud4You infrastructure.
Replication makes it possible to prepare an environment for starting virtual machines after a failure of the primary infrastructure.
The documentation in this section will cover, among other things:
- replication configuration,
- failover execution,
- DR procedure testing,
- failback to the production environment.
Tape as a Service¶
Tape as a Service makes it possible to use tape as an additional data storage layer without maintaining your own tape library.
The service can be used, among other things, for:
- long-term retention,
- creating additional offline copies,
- implementing archival policies,
- storing copies required by internal procedures or regulations.
A detailed procedure for requesting tape write and restore operations will be described in a separate section.
Updates and maintenance¶
The Cloud4You team also supports customers with the day-to-day operation of Veeam environments.
The documentation covers, among other things:
- preparation for Veeam updates,
- compatibility verification,
- common post-update issues,
- communication problems with the Service Provider,
- Backup Copy Job errors,
- repository issues,
- troubleshooting backup and replication sessions.
Do not update a production environment without preparation
Before updating Veeam, verify compatibility between the version used on the customer side, the Cloud4You service, and the vendor requirements.
For critical environments, we recommend contacting the support team in advance.
Technical support¶
If an issue requires analysis on the Cloud4You infrastructure side or is not yet covered in the documentation, use the support portal:

Do not send confidential data
Do not include the following in a support ticket:
- passwords,
- private keys,
- API tokens,
- complete authentication credentials.
What should I include in a Veeam support request?¶
To speed up troubleshooting, provide:
- customer or service name,
- Veeam Backup & Replication version,
- build number,
- job name,
- operation type: backup, Backup Copy, restore, or replication,
- exact error message,
- date and time when the issue occurred,
- information whether the error occurs on every attempt,
- information whether the issue appeared after an update or configuration change.
Example:
Service: Veeam Cloud Connect
Veeam B&R: 12.x
Job: BackupCopy-Cloud4You
Operation: Backup Copy
Error: <full error message>
Time: 2026-08-27 15:20 CEST
Issue occurs: on every attempt
Last change: Veeam update
Where should I start?¶
If you are configuring the service for the first time, go through the following sections in order:
- Service Access
- Adding Cloud Connect to Veeam
- Requirements and Connectivity
- Cloud Connect Repository
- Backup Copy Job Configuration
The remaining sections cover data protection, replication, Tape as a Service, updates, and troubleshooting.
