Email Forwarders in cPanel

An email forwarder, or Forwarder, automatically forwards messages from one email address to another.

Example:

biuro@domena.pl

can forward all messages to:

jan@inna-domena.pl

This means you do not need to log in separately to each mailbox.

1. Where to find Forwarders

After logging in to cPanel, go to:

Email → Forwarders

Here you can:

  • add new forwarders,
  • review existing forwarders,
  • remove forwarders.

2. Adding a new forwarder

In the Forwarders section, click:

Add Forwarder

Then complete the form.

3. Address to Forward

In the:

Address to Forward

field, enter the name of the address from which messages should be forwarded.

Example:

biuro

Then select the appropriate domain, for example:

domena.pl

The resulting forwarder will apply to:

biuro@domena.pl

4. Destination

In the:

Destination

section, select:

Forward to Email Address

Then enter the address to which messages should be forwarded.

Example:

jan@inna-domena.pl

5. Saving the forwarder

After entering the details, click:

Add Forwarder

Done.

From now on, messages sent to:

biuro@domena.pl

will automatically be forwarded to:

jan@inna-domena.pl

6. Forwarder and a regular mailbox

This is important:

A forwarder does not have to be a regular email account.

You can create a forwarder for:

biuro@domena.pl

even if there is no separate mailbox:

biuro@domena.pl

In that case, the message will simply be forwarded.

7. What if the address is also a regular mailbox?

If:

biuro@domena.pl

exists as a regular email account and also has a forwarder configured, the message may:

  • remain in the mailbox,
  • and also be forwarded to another address.

This depends on the server configuration.

If you only want messages to be forwarded and do not want to store them locally, the simplest option is not to create a separate mailbox for that address.

8. Forwarding to multiple addresses

If messages should be delivered to several people, you can create several separate forwarders.

Example:

biuro@domena.pl → jan@firma.pl
biuro@domena.pl → anna@firma.pl
biuro@domena.pl → zarzad@firma.pl

The message can then be forwarded to all specified recipients.

9. Removing a forwarder

To remove a forwarder:

  1. Go to:

Email → Forwarders

  1. Find the appropriate forwarder.
  2. Click:

Delete

  1. Confirm the operation.

After removal, new messages will no longer be forwarded to that address.

10. Forwarding an entire domain

cPanel may also allow you to forward all messages from one domain to another.

This option may be available as:

Add Domain Forwarder

Example:

user@stara-domena.pl

may be forwarded to:

user@nowa-domena.pl

Use this feature carefully because it affects the entire domain.

11. Important information

Email forwarding is not always the best solution.

Some external email providers, such as Gmail or Microsoft 365, may reject some forwarded messages because of mechanisms such as:

SPF
DKIM
DMARC

For important business email, using the mailbox directly through IMAP may be a better solution.

12. Simplest procedure

To add a forwarder:

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Go to:

Email → Forwarders

  1. Click:

Add Forwarder

  1. Enter the address from which messages should be forwarded.
  2. Enter the destination address.
  3. Click:

Add Forwarder

  1. Send a test message.
